Small Scale Women Empowerment (2021 & 2023)

Blossom Trust supported a single mother with children who struggled to fulfill bulk orders of string hoppers due to limited kitchen facilities. We provided necessary equipment, including gas stoves and cylinders, enabling her to expand her business and triple her earnings.

Supporting physically challenged kids (2022)

Olirumvaalvu, a charity organization in Thunukkai, Sri Lanka, supports physically challenged children and their families. Blossom Trust assisted by funding the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible coach to transport children to the daycare center for essential welfare and education.

Providing Toilet Facilities for Tuition Centre (2022)

Sri Aathi Manikkappillaiyar Aarnery School in Chenkalady, Sri Lanka, offers moral education and academic support to local students. Blossom Trust funded the construction of separate toilet facilities for male and female students and teachers, addressing their essential sanitation needs.

Sewing Machine Project (2018)

Blossom Trust supported a financially struggling widow with two young children by providing her with a sewing machine. As a qualified tailor, this support enabled her to work from home and provide for her family.

Water and Sanitation for Special Needs Children (2018)

Santhapuram Kalaimahal Vilthialayam is a special needs school for disadvantaged students. Blossom Trust coordinated with the school management to fund and provide drinking water and sanitation facilities for 11 students from a poor socioeconomic background.

Support during Covid (2020)

During the COVID-19 lockdown in Sri Lanka, Blossom Trust provided essential relief to families dependent on daily wages. With the help of young graduates from our financial aid program, we distributed food provisions to isolated villages, including rice, wheat flour, and other essentials.

Mental Health Support (UK-SLTG) 2015

The UK-Sri Lanka Trauma Group (UK-SLTG) provides mental health support to those impacted by the civil war and the 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka. Blossom Trust sponsored workshops to enhance the counseling skills of medical professionals in the North and East provinces.

Widow’s Empowerment Project
(2016 – 2018)

Between 2016 and 2018, Blossom Trust empowered widows in Vanni District, promoting self-sufficiency and well-being. The initiative supported 43 displaced widows and their families with sustainable resources in three villages of Killinochchi District.

Sprinkler Project (2019-20)

Since 2016, Blossom Trust has supported 43 displaced widows and their families in three villages of Kilinochchi District with sustainable resources. In 2019-2020, additional support was provided to 6 beneficiaries with sprinkler systems to assist their income after reviewing the project's impact.

English Language Support (2015)

Extreme post-war poverty in Vanni, Sri Lanka, severely impacted the livelihoods of people, particularly affecting the quality of education and communication. To address this, Blossom Trust collaborated with a local charity to run a six-month English Language Program for children aged 8 to 11 in several villages of Vanni District. Monthly workshops were also conducted on topics such as dialogue, poetry composition, drama, and storytelling.

Manikkavasagar Illam Library Project (2013)

There were no public libraries near the Illam to support the children and local community. We identified a site within Manikkavasagar Illam and, with the help of Chigwell school pupils and Lyca mobile, we built a library for the children at the Illam and the local community to further enrich their education and knowledge.

Sencholai Library Project (2015)

The Sencholai Home in Kilinochi provides shelter, food, and education to 150 orphaned girls of all ages. In 2016, Blossom Trust co-sponsored the construction of a library to support their educational development.

Orphanage for Children – Manikkavasagar illam (2012-2023)

The Manikkavasagar Illam in Batticaloa, previously funded by Manitha Neyam Trust and later managed by Blossom Trust from 2012 to mid-2023, provided a safe and nurturing environment for over 50 children. Despite significant contributions, the home was handed over to local government due to declining occupancy and changing needs.

Bharathi illam (2013-2015)

This home in Mullaitivu provides care for orphaned girls. Blossom Trust supported 32 underprivileged girls with care and education from April 2013 to September 2015.
